Dear Mums, Dads, Children and Friends,
Balladen School is a great place to be. The staff are positive and extremely dedicated; they strive to provide the best learning and the best care to all the children at Balladen.
The children of Balladen are what makes the school special. Each child here is an individual with different needs and interests and the we aim to personalise the education of all of our children. We work hard, we are polite and we treat each other with respect. Because we do those things very well and because we know people learn most when they are enjoying themselves, we also have lots and lots of fun!
Our Children's Centre also provides support and lots of activites for our families who have children of pre-school age. Baby massage, cookery classes, parent and toddler classes and dads' sessions are just a few of the facilities on offer through our centre.
Thank you very much and please enjoy looking at our website.

Welcome to Haslingden High School - a Specialist Arts, Maths and Computing College for students aged 11-18.
We are committed to our number one aim which is to enable all students to achieve their potential regardless of age, ability or background and this aim pervades policies and practice within school. We have high expectations, shared with our community and regularly reinforced with students and their families. The Every Child Matters outcomes are at the heart of all that we do and all that we stand for and are the key drivers of our School Improvement Plan.
In 2002 we were successful in gaining Specialist School Status in the Performing Arts and, as a nationally recognised High Performing Specialist School, we added Maths and Computing as a second specialism in April 2007.
We have been a member of the `Most improved schools` club` for three years running and are using our multi-specialist status to help facilitate innovative and creative teaching and learning, develop personalised pathways for students and support transition between all key stages.
In November 2007 Ofsted Inspectors judged the School overall to be Outstanding and, importantly, also judged all of the key areas of inspection to be outstanding. These are: Achievement and standards; Personal development and well-being; Quality of provision (Teaching, Curriculum, and Care, guidance and support); Leadership and management; Overall effectiveness.
To achieve Outstanding in all categories for the school overall is exceptional and is national recognition of our many achievements over the past four years. Further, Inspectors have acknowledged publicly the success in which we put into practice our number one aim.
We are proud of our achievements – our examination success, the diversity of our extra-curricular programme, our community involvement – and look forward to meeting you and working with you during the coming years.

We are proud to belong to a school with a history spanning three hundred and fifty years from a time when the resident priest taught children in the parish church. Since those times the school has been housed in at least three other buildings, on at least three other sites and has grown and flourished, despite a devastating fire in 1992 which almost completely destroyed the school. Our school has many fine traditions, not least its concern that our children will grow in self confidence and acquire that knowledge of self worth so necessary to achieve full potential in all aspects of schoolwork and life.
We seek to provide our children with an environment where they feel secure in the knowledge that they are part of a family where sharing and helping each other are important and where through our Christian tradition they may experience the Gospel message of God's loving care.

Valley Academy is a Stage School based in the Crawshawbooth area of the Rossendale Valley.
Specialising in teaching Musical Theatre, Drama and Dance to young people, the Academy is the only Theatre School in the Valley to perform two full-scale Musical productions every year!
Our approach to teaching and learning stems very much from the experience and training of the Academy’s Principal, Grant Bromley. We believe in a process of learning through performance. Classes are therefore focused towards an end goal, whether it is a Musical Production, Pantomime or Concert. All students are encouraged to be involved and learn from the experience only live performance can deliver.
We also hold both Easter and Summer Schools, teaching performance skills and usually themed around a musical, which again culminate in a performance to showcase students’ work.
We pride ourselves on being able to provide professional representation for gifted students. Our agency, Valley Actors Management, seeks employment for clients in theatre, television, film, radio and advertising. This provides a step into the professional performance world and who knows where it may lead!
We welcome students from all backgrounds, regardless of their ability or experience and aim to identify the needs of each individual in order to enable them to reach their full potential and develop into a rounded performer. We believe in giving everyone a chance to shine.
A unique environment of commitment, engagement and trust has developed at Valley Academy due to the strong bond between students, staff and parents.
So whether it's dance classes, drama classes or music classes, Valley Academy has it all to offer. We currently offer classes in Musical Theatre, Tap & Ballet and LAMDA Exam Preparation. Singing tutition and private classes are also available. We even have a Community Choir, Valley Aloud, for adults!

Dear Mums, Dads, Children and Friends,
Waterfoot is a popular and thriving school with a good reputation for academic standards – it is also a happy one! Staff, pupils, parents and Governors get on well, work together and constantly try to improve. Best of all, we carry out our business with smiles on our faces and good humour in our hearts.
In our school, we are positive. We hardly ever become angry and we rarely shout! We don’t need to, because even the youngest children quickly learn to adapt and prosper in our supportive environment. As they grow, Waterfoot children learn that learning is fun. They are enthusiastic and motivated NOT because they are told they must be (although sometimes of course that does happen!), but because they want to do well for themselves, their friends, their families and their teachers.
We know that what matters most both academically and socially is that magic interaction between people that we all remember from our own "best teacher" while we were at school. In our school, we are confident that there are lots of "best teachers", but lots of them aren’t teachers at all! All of our support staff and the older children are equally adept at forming and maintaining quality relationships that form the basis for lifelong learning.
